Are You Uncommon?

We are currently seeking an Application Architect with web/mobile development background who delivers technical solutions, team leadership, guidance, and future vision and transition roadmaps across web and mobile. You provide patterns, design, and coordination without constraining the speed of innovation and business change. You demonstrate strong leadership in architecture, design, and development of web/mobile applications and platforms.  This person guides technology decisions, and develops future state architectures and roadmaps that effectively support business strategies.


You will participate in design, development and implementation of architectural deliverables, including the assessment and optimization of system design and review of user requirements. You will contribute to the determination of technical and operational feasibility of solutions and develop prototypes of applications and individual systems.


The Application Architect will lead multiple projects with competing deadlines. You will serve as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource and provide tech knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor.You will focus on setting technical direction on groups of applications and similar technologies as well as taking responsibility for designing, coding, and delivering technically robust solutions encompassing all business, architecture, and technology constraints.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Shape architecture, technical direction, culture, and processes for the company and web/mobile product to achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Create and maintain technical product roadmaps, ensuring they drive best of breed architecture (including security), and align with company’s current and future business needs.
  • Provide oversight over architecture and design across all end-user facing technology initiatives.  Lead or collaborate directly with delivery teams to determine technical direction and approach to system design and implementation.
  • Stay on top of current and emerging technology trends and best practices.  Evaluate and prototype potential technologies and overall solutions.
  • Provide strong leadership and promote and foster professional development and growth among team members.
  • Provide input to project estimates and ensure they are reasonable and attainable.
  • Demonstrate exceptional analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.  Come up to speed quickly in complex domains and effectively manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Assists with the development of consistent technology frameworks, platforms, standards and processes and identify current and future mobile application development trends to be incorporated into a strategic roadmap.
  • Participates in the analysis of system and business requirements to provide hands-on solutions to meet/exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Delivers high-quality code by defining and deploying best practices in unit testing and regression and testing frameworks.
  • Performs integration and testing of software components across an entire team.
  • Communicates with product management and development teams to raise issues and identify potential barriers.
  • Participates in user-centered research through client focus groups, interviews, usage analysis, and rapid prototyping.
  • Responsible for protecting our customers and brand by writing secure-by-design code.
  • Leads, supervises, mentors, and trains other team members in order to develop a strong, best-in-class development bench.


Are You Qualified?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Math
  • Minimum 5+ years of web/mobile application development, design, and/or architecture experience.
  • Ability to drive innovation in a practical, actionable way.
  • A solid understanding of software development lifecycle, QA techniques using source code control repositories, and n-tier debugging & testing.
  • Must have contributed significantly to at least one mobile and one web application, and be able to describe those technical contributions.
  • Experience with native mobile application development, particularly with iOS and Swift.
  • Experience with mobile hybrid app development, particularly with React Native.
  • Experience with the following front-end JavaScript frameworks: AngularJS, React.
  • Experience in the following areas: Git version control, UI Frameworks such as Foundation or Bootstrap, and CSS Preprocessors (Sass/Less).
  • Experience leveraging various unit and system-level test utilities and harnesses to ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Fierce belief in the principals of continuous integration and failing fast.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment. Able to break broad Epics into predictable User Stories in a team setting
  • Comfortable developing in a MacOS, Linux, and Windows environments.
  • Knowledgeable on various JavaScript testing utilities and frameworks like QUnit, Mocha, Chai, Jasmine, or Karma
  • Understanding of OAuth, SAML, and web application security in general.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
